Anger Or Gentleness

Which is more characteristic of you? We live in an angry world. Most of the world seems to be having a continual temper tantrum. Gentleness is the fruit of the Spirit and will be a characteristic of Spirit-filled believers. When we are angry we need to make certain that it is righteous anger and not foolish and sinful. If it is a way of life it is sinful. Our sovereign, powerful and loving God causes or permits everything that comes into our lives, even the things that make us angry. Nothing happens without His watchful eye. We need to be especially careful that we are not angry with things that He causes or permits. We must not be angry over testing that He puts into our lives. Whatever trouble happens in the lives of believers is not what they deserve, it is not Hell and it will never compare with Hell. Gratitude to God and anger are incompatible. Faith in God and anger are incompatible. Knowing God and anger are incompatible. If we are saved we really do not have the right to be angry.

Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

2 Timothy 2:24: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

James 1:20: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

James 3:13: Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

1 Thessalonians 2:7: But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

Ephesians 4:24: And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil.

Psalms 37:7: Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Proverbs 15:18: A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Proverbs 22:24: Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Proverbs 29:22: An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Psalms 18:35: Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
